B513 Planning Meeting, 27th September 2001
Present:
Tony Cass, Fabio Corsanego (partly), Anne Funken, Jukka
Lindroos, Bruno Pichler, Dave Underhill
1.
Previous Minutes & Matters Arising
- A precise
cost estimate for the HVAC removal is still awaited.
- Anne
reconfirmed a rough estimate of 4KCHF for the removal of the switchboard
and associated normabarres. Removal of the subsequently identified
electrical cabling is likely to cost an additional 2KCHF.
- Dave and
Dick have made a brief review of cables in the vault cable trays. Many are
associated with the STK robots and smoke detection equipment, but more
work is needed to identify the rest.
- There was
much discussion about the false floor height. During a visit to the vault,
the height of the room was confirmed at 3500mm. Further, large areas of
the vault, particularly where the archived 3480s were stored, are
unobstructed by cable trays. It was agreed that the false floor height
should be 700mm. (i.e. the top of the false floor tiles will be 700mm
above the base level of the vault; the free height of the false floor
plenum will be less than 700mm.)
- IT
equipment managers would like to see the provision of pre-heating for the
fresh air input in the even of smoke extraction. Jukka will study this further. In particular, the power
supply arrangements need to be understood.
- No
information available as yet on the requirements for lighting in the
vault.
- Tony has
still to organise discussions about civil engineering work in the vault.
All of the required information is available now that the false floor
height has been agreed.
2.
Other Vault Planning Issues
- Following a visit to the vault, MG room and
air-conditioning plant room, Fabio Corsanego agreed that the door between
S-415 and S-030 may be sealed off.
·
There was some discussion as to whether the smoke
extraction should be triggered automatically or manually by the Fire Brigade.
It was agreed that smoke extraction should be triggered by the Fire Brigade.
- Jukka asked if there was a requirement for the fire
dampers to be opened by fire-curtain zone or if opening all dampers is
acceptable. The concern was that the extraction fan must be sized to
remove 10m3/s; if all of this must be extracted through one
damper then this may create problems. Fabio agreed that all dampers could
be opened at once.
- This point led to a further discussion concerning the
relation of fire-curtain zones (with associated smoke detection and
extraction) to electrical distribution zones. It was agreed that a meeting
with Denis Raffourt would be needed to settle this point.
3.
Cost Profile
- In response to a question from Tony about vault
conversion expenses that could be paid in 2001, Anne replied that the
normabarres could be prepurchased and that Bernard Louchet was already
looking at ways of spreading the cost of the false floor. Spending on any
air conditioning equipment is dependent on the recently initiated tender
process.
- Looking further ahead, Jukka will start to think about
the detailed requirements for an additional chiller such that a tender
could be issued in 2002 if required..
4.
AOB
- Fabio Corsanego would like future PC server tenders to
require the use of fire retardant materials for the casing.
- Next meeting: 14:00 on Thursday 11th October.
