I have the pleasure of working at CERN since 1999 for the Accelerator Controls group as a software engineer, and more recently (2016) for the Radio Frequency cavities group.
Before that I lived and worked in Bristol, England. I also went went to university there. I grew up in south Kent.
In 1999, I started working for CERN in accelerator controls on database development for the "Accelerator Information System" as a technical student, then for the "CERN Alarm System" as a fellow and project associate. I then continued as a staff member in the accelerator controls groups ([PS,SL,AB,BE]-CO), variously, in the teams on the new alarm system (LASER); unix/linux administration; middleware (M.O.M./J.M.S.) support, administration and development; developing and supporting the software development tools, dependency and application lifecycle management. In 2017, after 15 years in controls, I was ready for a change so I switched to the RF group to work on software for hardware testing for R&D projects; acceptance testing, and Crab LLRF.
