The GDB meeting in September, hosted by TRIUMF in
Vancouver, focused on the Readiness of the Middleware Services
and the status of the Migration to SL4. Reports were presented
about SRM, FTS, LFC, CE, WMS, 3D Database Services
and VOMS.
In addition there were presentations about the
ATLAS and CMS Tier-2 Centres in the US,
Security Policies, OPN Network, Accounting and Pilot
Jobs.
10 September 2007 -
Agenda,
Minutes
Tier-1 Migrated WN to SL4 - All
Tier-1 sites that were present stated that they have migrated
sufficient WNs to SL4 to meet their pledge.
PRD and SGM Accounts - All Experiments were reminded that
sites will configure the VOs access via pool accounts for PRD
and SGM roles, unless the Experiment specifically states in its VO
ID card (in the CIC Portal) they want single accounts for these
roles.
ATLAS and Python 32 - ATLAS asked all sites supporting them
*not* to install the Python32 library for them. This topic will be
discussed at the next ATLAS taskforce meeting and the policy coming
from this discussion be communicated to the ATLAS sites.

Networks Issues with SAM Tests - The Grid Operations team
pointed out that some sites are intermittently failing SAM tests due
to poor network connectivity. This will be an issue to discuss at
the EGEE '07 conference.
Testing the SAM Tests - A new process must be followed for
the testing and announcing of updates to the SAM monitoring system.
There will now be a "validation" phase during which anyone
interested will be able to try out new SAM tests and their
functionality, before it is put into production.

SRM 2.2 Tests at SARA and IN2P3 - After lengthy discussion it
was decided that SRM 2.2 testing will be carried out in the
production environment. Also SARA and IN2P3 will take part in the
initial tests.

Agenda,
Minutes
GLite WMS in PPS - The new gLite 3.1 WMS (on SL3) was
released into both the Pre-Production Service (PPS) and also the
pilot service. The Experiments were encouraged to validate this
updated service with their software.
FTS 2.0 Roll-Out - Commitments from ASGC, FZK and TRIUMF to
deploy FTS 2.0 before the 10 September. IN2P3 will deploy during the
second half of September.
The gLite release pages (for
3.0 and for
3.1) now have change logs. Therefore is now clear when there are
post-release alterations to the release notes for a particular
update.

Agenda,
Minutes
Tier-2 Sites for ATLAS Cosmic Run - Volunteer Tier-2 sites
were requested to take part in the ATLAS M4
cosmic ray run.
Itanium Platform - There are some Itanium ia64 machines used
by Alice. Currently they are running LCG2.7.0 because this is the
last version of the middleware ported to ia64. It is unlikely that
the middleware will be ported to that platform. But anyone
interested in porting to ia64 can volunteer and will find
instructions on the web.

6 August 2007 -
Agenda,
Minutes
gLite CE Support - Sites are being told not to put effort
into maintaining their gLite CEs as the current distribution is not
yet ready for production.
PRD and SGM as Pool Accounts - A decision was made that, by
default, sites will configure VOs with pool accounts for PRD and
SGM. If a VO does not wish to map either PRD or SGM to pool
accounts, then they should explicitly state this in their VO ID card
in the CIC Portal.
gLite on SL4 - An EGEE wiki page shows the progress of the
migration of each of the gLite 3.1 Services to the SL4
platform.
Link
SL4 Status at Sites - Tier-1 sites were requested to present an
update at the next Grid Operations meeting regarding their status
and plans for migrating to gLite 3.1/SL4 WNs.
30 July 2007 -
Agenda,
Minutes
WN Migration to SL4 - Several sites (including larger Tier-2
sites) are asking in what timeframe are they expected to move their
WNs to gLite 3.1/SL4. Grid Operations will gather information and
report back in 1-2 weeks.
gLite WN Tools - It was noted that some RPM files are missing
from gLite 3.1 WN which provide essential user utils like
lcg-infosites. It was explained that this was not intentional and
that it will be put back into the WN and UI distributions. The
question was raised to the Experiments whether there are any other
user utilities missing.

Agenda,
Minutes
Phase out of LCG-2_7_0 - There are still a few production
sites publishing the OS version as LCG-2_7_0. After more than one
year running gLite releases, it is time to phase it out and
officially stop the support of that obsolete release. For this
reason all remaining sites must upgrade by the end of August 2007.
The list of sites still publishing LCG-2_7_0 is available from
Gstat. See the meeting agenda for details.
FTS 2.0 Update - An update to FTS 2.0 will be released to the
Pre-Production service this week. It includes patch 1232 that
provides several important fixes. This patch will be available for
installation on the Tier-1 sites from the PPS repository. The
release to production is scheduled on Wednesday 1st August.
