The GDB meeting in September, hosted by TRIUMF in
Vancouver, focused on the Readiness of the Middleware Services
and the status of the Migration to SL4. Reports were presented
about SRM, FTS, LFC, CE, WMS, 3D Database Services
and VOMS.
In addition there were presentations about the
ATLAS and CMS Tier-2 Centres in the US,
Security Policies, OPN Network, Accounting and Pilot
Jobs.

LCG-RB to Maintenance Mode - Following the release of the 3.1
WMS, developers in JRA1 and integrators in SA3 are no longer
releasing updates to the LCG-RB middleware component. There are now
many LCG-RB installations deployed with in the EGEE infrastructure,
e.g. CERN has 16 of them. A plan for service termination of these
LCG-RB installations will now be defined and implemented.
ATLAS Reported Inconstancies in the Information Published -
ATLAS noted that there is a large mismatch in the
published information concerning jobs running and jobs waiting
between the traditional GlueCE objects and new GlueVOView objects.
This issue will now be investigated.

Progress of Service Nodes to SL4 - SA3 provided a detailed
list of the progress for each of the service nodes to SA1. As the
resource centres plan their migrations in the upcoming months to SL4
such information was much appreciated. SA3 agreed to give a similar
update every three or four weeks at the Operations meeting.
Deployment of 3.1 WMS on SL3 to Production Infrastructure
- The 3.1 WMS was finally deployed to the production infrastructure
causing some surprise to service managers and their users due to the
differences between the LCG-RB and WMS 3.1. In particular support
for the glite-job-* commands that many are familiar with is not
available in this upgrade.
CERN AFS UI now at 3.1 - A gLite 3.1 UI environment is now
available for the first time on CERN's interactive lxplus service.
Please see details on how to enable 3.1 UI.

Tier-1 Migrated WN to SL4 - All
Tier-1 Sites that were present stated that they have migrated
sufficient WNs to SL4 to meet their pledge.
PRD and SGM Accounts - All Experiments were reminded that
Sites will configure the VOs access via pool accounts for PRD
and SGM roles, unless the Experiment specifically states in its VO
ID card (in the CIC Portal) they want single accounts for these
roles.
ATLAS and Python 32 - ATLAS asked all Sites supporting them
*not* to install the Python32 library for them. This topic will be
discussed at the next ATLAS taskforce meeting and the policy coming
from this discussion be communicated to the ATLAS Sites.

GDB Summary - J.Gordon summarized
of the GDB meeting in TRIUMF at the end of August 2007. He also
proposed the activities of the GDB meetings in the next months and
asked for the feedback of the MB.
Update on Automatic Accounting -
J.Gordon presented the status of automatic accounting of resources
(CPU, disk, etc) at the WLCG Sites. The goal is to move to fully
automated collection of data in the next few months.
Report on Site Reliability and Job
Efficiency -
Summary of availability and
reliability data of the Tier-0 and Tier-1 Sites and of the main
issues impacting the performance of the Sites for the month of
August 2007. Now the reports include availability tests developed by
the LHC Experiments - VO-specific Site tests - in order to missing
word, probably test their specific configurations at the Tier-0 and
Tier-1 Sites.

Computation of Site Availability
Metrics in GridView - S.Digamber
presented the new method of computation of the availability metrics
in GridView. The new method will solve several ambiguities of the
previous algorithm and will correctly take into account scheduled
down-time and "unknown" status at the Sites.
Preparation of the LHCC Comprehensive
Review - The MB discussed the draft agenda for the LHCC
Comprehensive Review that will take place in November 2007.
Discussion included the decision on the speakers from the Sites and
the Experiments.
Changes to Quarterly Reports -
The MB approved the proposal for changes
of the Quarterly Reports in order to proceed with the proposal for
the Overview Board.

SRM 2.2 Roll-Out Update -
F. Donno presented the Site reports and the
current SRM 2.2 status.
Combined Computing Readiness Challenge
(CCRC) 2008 Status & Plans - The need of a Readiness Challenge
was raised by the Experiments at the WLCG Workshop. The proposed
dates for the Challenge are February and May 2008. J.Shiers
described the coordination group that he is organizing and asked
Sites and Experiments to provide contact names for the preparation
and the planning of the Challenge.
NDGF Tier1 - O.Smirnova presented
the status and plans of the Nordic Data Grid Facility (NDGF) which
is a LCG Tier-1 site and involves the 7 largest Nordic Academic high
performance computing centers.
Job Priorities Working Group -
D.Liko presented the short and medium-term plans of the Job
Priorities Working Group.
