Grid Deployment Board (GDB)
Web - Wiki - Agendas - Minutes

14 January 2009 – GDB Meeting – Agenda

New CPU Benchmarking – G. Merino presented the proposal for the transition to a new CPU Benchmarking unit. The old benchmark (SPECint2K) is not used by hardware vendor, therefore all CPU resources of WLCG should be expressed in the new CPU unit (e.g. for Experiments’ requirements, Sites’ pledges, accounting, etc).

Grid Configuration Data – J. Casey presented the current status of the information stored in the GOCDB and BDII databases. He also proposed how to improve the current situation avoiding duplication of information and how to better handle static and dynamic grid information.

Update on gLite Middleware – N.Thackray presented the status and progress of testing and deployment of the CREAM CE, of the SL5 certification of gLite and of the development of SCAS.  A. Unterkircher presented how to better manage changes in order to allow faster deployment of new releases and rollback in case of problems.

GLUE 2.0 – L. Field explained the basic ideas behind the GLUE schema descriptions, the experience gained in the first 4 years of using GLUE and the improvements in GLUE version 2.0.

Other presentations covered reports of the activities of the LHC Experiments during the Christmas shutdown, the progress of the Worker Node and VOM(R)S WGs and the Ticketing Routing between OSG and GGUS..

10 December 2008 – GDB Meeting – Agenda

GGUS Tickets to OSG Sites – M. Dimou reported on the strategy for directly routing to OSG the GGUS tickets that concern issues with OSG hardware and software resources.

Installed Resource Collection – F. Donno presented her proposal about reporting installed capacity through the Information System for Computing and Storage.

Policies Updates and Operational Security – D. Kelsey presented the main updates to the security and policies documents. R. Wartel presented the operational aspects of monitoring, logging and preventing security incidents.

Job Efficiency – U. Schwickerath presented the status of job efficiency at CERN; and the strategies that will be implemented in order to improve the way jobs are monitored.

Other presentations covered reports of the ALICE Experiences with CREAM CE, the Middleware Updates and the OSG Campus Grid.

WLCG-OSG-EGEE Operations (OPS)
Agendas - Minutes - Action List

26 January 2009 – Minutes

New Version of CREAM CE - A new version of CREAM CE was included in the gLite 3.1 update 39 and released last week.

Installed CA Verification - JSPG recommends that SAM tests should only check that the CAs installed are up-to-date.

19 January 2009 – Minutes

LHCb Problems at CNAF - For LHCb CNAF is currently unusable and will be dropped from their FEST09 exercise.

BDII Certification – The new release of BDII is in certification (to be installed at your own risk). CNAF, GRIF & AEGIS will keep testing it until the official release is scheduled.

12 January 2009 – Minutes

SL5 WN Testing – The pilot service of the SL5 WN: is in progress. LHCb’s tests on the pilot installation pointed out some issues with the gssklog mechanism when submitting from DIRAC3. The issue apparently appeared with the newer version of VDT distributed in the WN and is under investigation.

8 December 2008 – Minutes

New version of CREAM - New version of CREAM available for pilot testing in Padua and Karlsruhe.

SL5 WN at CERN – A pilot installation was prepared. Some Information System conflicts with differing interpretations of pre-production or production status.

WMS Configuration - WMS has bugs preventing jobs being steered purely by JDL. The system configuration file overwrites local configuration, thus compromising the DIRAC’s use of the feature.

1 December 2008 – Minutes

VOMS Pilot - Requested from LHCb, sites should deploy the VOMS role pilot.

GLite 3.1-37 to Production - gLite 3.1 Update 37 was released to Production today. The fix to avoid recursive publishing had to be re-instated.

24 November 2008 – Minutes

BioMed VO Issues - A number of regions reported high load and apparently non optimal usage of resource by the biomed VO which is currently running some challenges. E.g. High load LFCs in France. Multiple Worker Nodes in the UK accessing identical files at remote SEs.

Hydra testing - ROCs are asked if they wish to help with certifying, testing or using HYDRA.

17 November 2008 – Minutes

CREAM CE Pilot – The pilot testing of the CREAM CE was extended to 16th December.

GOCDB Cleanup - GOCDB service name cleanup will take place on Wednesday.

SRMV2 SAM Tests - LHCb and ATLAS stated that they are looking forward to have SRMv2 tests accounted in the availability reports.

27 January 2009 – Agenda, Minutes

WLCG Operations Weekly Report – H. Renshall presented the summary of status and progress of the LCG Operations since last MB meeting. The problems remain heterogeneous and without a predictable pattern; however, the resulting service failures are usually of short time duration. Link

New CPU Unit - G. Merino presented the document explaining how to organize the transition from the old (SPECint2K) to the new unit for CPU benchmarking (called “HEP-SPEC06”).

Comments on VO SAM tests – The 4 LHC Experiments commented the availability and reliability results of their tests on the Tier-1 Sites.

CMS Quarterly Report – M. Kasemann distributed the CMS quarterly report for 2008Q4.

20 January 2009 – Agenda, Minutes

WLCG OPS Weekly Report – J. Shiers presented the summary of status and progress of the LCG Operations since last MB meeting. The daily meetings summaries are always available: Link

SLC5 migration – The AF supported the proposal to not include CERNLIB as part of the SLC5 standard installation. A number of issues need to be understood about the differences between gcc compilers by Red Hat and the ones currently in use.

Clarifications will be asked from IT/FIO in order to understand the deployment plan for SLC5.

CLHEP 2.X Support – It was agreed that all the LCG Applications Area software should be supporting the 2.X version of CLHEP and not only the version 1.X.
