The
minutes of this GDB meeting are now available.
July's
GDB Meeting focused on Storage Accounting, on
Security, on Worker Node Configuration and
SL4 Issues. In addition there were
presentations about Tier-1 and Tier2 Accounting,
integration with OSG Accounting, Planning for
2007, and a summary of the French Tier-2 Sites.
The
Storage Workshop (2-3
July 2007, Agenda)
discussed in detail the status and plans of the SRM 2.2
implementations (CASTOR, dCache, DPM, and StoRM), the
experience from the sites (FZK, GRIDPP and CNAF) and the
report of the LHC Experiments about their tests with SRM
2.2 (ATLAS, CMS and LHCb).

Phase out of LCG-2_7_0 - There are still a few production
sites publishing the OS version as LCG-2_7_0. After more than one
year running gLite releases, it is time to phase it out and
officially stop the support of that obsolete release. For this
reason all remaining sites must upgrade by the end of August 2007.
The list of sites still publishing LCG-2_7_0 is available from
Gstat. See the meeting agenda for details.
FTS 2.0 Update - An update to FTS 2.0 will be released to the
Pre-Production service this week. It includes patch 1232 that
provides several important fixes. This patch will be available for
installation on the Tier-1 sites from the PPS repository. The
release to production is scheduled on Wednesday 1st August.

Sites Descriptions - Details on how to publish the operating
system and architecture (32/64 bit) for a site were presented. All
sites were asked to check that they are publishing the correct
information into the grid operations database. This will be followed
up by the grid operations team and will raise GGUS tickets for those
sites still publishing incorrect information.
Contacts between Sites and VOs - Several sites have asked
recently how they can contact the VOs. For urgent issues/problems GGUS should be used
and the
ticket will be assigned the VO support units. For questions and non-urgent issues
they should be brought the operations meeting using through the site and
ROC reports.

Stop of YAIM 3.0.1 Development - Once YAIM 3.1.1 is released (expected
in mid-July) the previous
versions
of YAIM will not be further developed nor maintained. Bug fixing will only be done in versions equal or higher than
YAIM
3.1.1. In general, the new YAIM should not introduce major
changes
for the site administrators since the "yaim" command is already
present and used since YAIM
3.0.1.
Usage of Pool Accounts - gLite 3.0.2 Update 27 allows "sgm"
and/or "prd" users to be mapped to the traditional static accounts
or to their own sets of pool accounts. Pool accounts are better wrt.
the audit trail on the CE and WN. The use of pool accounts can be
decided per VO and per account type.

SAM Sites Reports -
Following the issues about Sites Reliability found on
the previous MB meeting, P.Nyczyk participated to the MB in
order to discuss the reasons of the failures of the sites
reliability SAM tests and how to proceed in order to correctly
start/stop the site monitoring system, register scheduled downtimes,
etc.
Status of Automatic Accounting - J.Gordon presented the
status of automatic accounting of resources (CPU, disk, etc) at the
WLCG sites. The goal is to move to fully automated collection of
data in the next few months.

GDB Summary - J.Gordon presented a summary of the GDB meeting
in July; focusing on the SL4 Upgrade, Accounting and Security
Policies.
Service Interventions Analysis - J.Shiers provided a summary
of the status of service interventions at the sites.
Now the main challenge
is to improve service quality of the key grid services to an
acceptable and affordable level of reliability.
Sites Reliability June 2007 -
A.Aimar presented a summary of the Site
Reliability from January to June 2007. The report also described the
problems encountered and the solutions adopted at the Tier-0 and
Tier-1 WLCG sites.

SRM 2.2 Roll-out Plan - The MB Meeting was dedicated to the
discussion of the plan prepared by F.Donno, following the agreement
at the SRM Workshop (2-3 July 2007). The plan describes in detail
all steps for the roll-out of SRM 2.2 implementations at the Tier-1
Sites until November 2007, including deployment at the sites after thorough testing by the LHC Experiments
in August and September 2007.

PH R&D Projects - Discussed the two R&D proposals that are
being considered in the PH department in the area of application
software for the experiments. The two projects being discussed are
about Parallelization of Software and usage of Virtualization
Technology.
Nightly Builds News -
Started an activity in order to make the nightly build for POOL and CORAL
work. Mac OSX (Intel) as a platform supported by the nightly builds is coming soon.
LCG_53 in Preparation - The configuration LCG_53 is almost
ready and it is going to be build very soon. ATLAS is waiting for
such release.
