New versions of TeX and latex2html

  Michel Goossens IT/ASD

It is our intention to install the latest version of TeX (based on Web2c 7.2) and related programs before the Summer holidays. This will bring us in line with the latest release of the TeX Live CDROM, which will be available around Easter, thus making it easy to emulate the CERN setup in other Institutes (at CERN we only added a few CERN-specific files to the generic setup on that CDROM). A plug and play version of the TeX hierarchy at CERN will also be part of the Linux CDROM to be produced by the Linux Interest Group.

At the same time we shall introduce the latest version (98.1) of latex2html, the well-known and much-used LaTeX to HTML converter. It has been much expanded with respect to the version which is currently available at CERN and should cure many of its known shortcomings.
