1.2.1  Page numbering of first chapter file

The page numbering of the first chapter file should be restarted at 1. This information cannot be part of the template file for the chapter as this would cause all chapters to start at 1. Instead, this information is contained in the book file as part of the component file settings.

To set the page numbering of the first content file to start at 1:

  1. In the book file window, click on the filename for the first content file.
  2. From the book file menu choose File:Set Up File...
  3. Under Page Numbering choose Restart at 1 .
  4. Click on Set .

Note that if you have an external colour figures file prior to the first chapter file, then it is the colour figures file that should start at 1.

All other chapters should have Page Numbering: Continue , Paragraph Numbering: Continue and Starting Page Side: Right .

In the book file window, select the filename for the first chapter and keep the mouse over the book file window.
