Mandate: Study of a RCS as PS Booster Alternative

The aim of the study is to evaluate the technical feasibility of replacing the PS Booster as PS injector by a Rapid Cycling Synchrotron (RCS). After the publication of a Feasibility Study of a Rapid Cycling Synchrotron to replace the PS Booster, it was concluded that regarding cost and timeline, the RCS was not competitive with the 2 GeV upgrade of the PSB, and therefore the study of the RCS would not be continued.
