2010

Performance of the ATLAS detector using first collision data (15 September 2010)

Observation of a centrality-dependent dijet asymmetry in lead-lead collisions at sqrt(sNN) = 2.76 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC (25 November 2010)
Figure 1:
Event display of a highly asymmetric dijet event, with one jet with ET > 100 GeV and no evident recoiling jet, and with high energy calorimeter cell deposits distributed over a wide azimuthal region. By selecting tracks with pT > 2.6 GeV and applying cell thresholds in the calorimeters (ET > 700 MeV in the electromagnetic calorimeter, and E > 1 GeV in the hadronic calorimeter) the recoil can be seen dispersed widely over azimuth.

Search for high mass dilepton resonances in the ATLAS experiment at sqrt{s} = 7 TeV with the ATLAS experiment (31 March 2011)

This event display is for the highest invariant mass dielectron event. The highest momentum electron has a pT of 279 GeV and an (eta, phi) of (1.22, 1.74). The trailing electron has a pT of 276 GeV and an (eta, phi) of (0.28, -1.40). The invariant mass of the pair is 617 GeV.

Figure 13b:
This event display is for the highest invariant mass dimuon event. The highest momentum muon has a pT of 186 GeV and an (eta, phi) of (-2.39, -1.54). The trailing muon has a pT of 165 GeV and an (eta, phi) of (0.46, 1.95). The invariant mass of the pair is 768 GeV. The missing E_T for this event is less than 25 GeV, which indicates the muons are balanced and therefore reconstructed properly.
