StandardModelPublicCollisionPlots

Introduction

In this page, the most recent approved plots from Standard Model analyses for the newest available integrated luminosity are collected. The plots do not show unfolded and fully corrected distributions, but provide observables at detector level, compared to predictions of full Monte Carlo simulation.

Jet production

The most recent Jet Last Minute Plots are collected (for ATLAS Current Physicists only) in this document.

Jet PT spectrum at √s=2.76 TeV
Observed inclusive jet PT distribution (black dots) for jets with PT(jet) > 7 GeV and |y(jet) | < 4.4, reconstructed with R=0.6, at √s=2.76 TeV compared to PYTHIA Monte Carlo prediction (yellow histogram). The jets are corrected with the 2010 Rel 16 JES. The distribution is normalized to unity and only statistical uncertainties are included.

Jet PT spectrum at √s=7 TeV
Observed inclusive jet PT distribution, reconstructed with R=0.6, as function of the pT of the jet in central rapidity at √s=7 TeV, compared to Pythia. The Pythia histogram and the 2010 data are normalized to the total number of jets predicted by Pythia while the 2011 data is normalized to the total number of jets in the 2010 data counting from the first populated bin in the 2011 data. The yellow histogram shows the Pythia prediction at the detector level reweighed with a NLO and LO PDF ratio. The black squares and red points describe 2010 and 2011 data respectively, both at the detector level. The lowest pT threshold is set to 20 GeV in 2010 data and to 110 GeV in 2011 data.

Event Display of highest mass central di-jet event
Event display for Run 179938, Event 12054480. This shows a high-mass dijet event with two leading jets within |y| < 0.8 that was collected in April 2011. The invariant mass of the dijet system is 4.0 TeV. The two leading jets have (pT, y) of (1.8 TeV, 0.3) and (1.8 TeV, -0.5), respectively. The missing ET in the event is 100 GeV.

Event Display of highest PT(jet) central di-jet event
Event display for Run 183081, Event 29591437. This shows a high-mass dijet event with two leading jets within |y| < 0.8 that was collected in June 2011. The invariant mass of the dijet system is 3.7 TeV. The two leading jets have (pT, y) of (1.9 TeV, -0.2) and (1.7 TeV, 0.2), respectively. The missing ET in the event is 92 GeV.

Photon production

The most recent Photon Last Minute Plots are collected (for ATLAS Current Physicists only) in this document.

Photon ET spectrum
Inclusive ET spectrum of isolated photon candidates passing the tight selection (ET(iso) < 5 GeV). The marker positions correspond to the bin weighted averages.

Event Display of highest PT photon
Event display for event 15829585 in run 183407, showing the highest-ET unconverted photon in the first 1.08 fb-1 collected by ATLAS in 2011. The photon candidate has reconstructed ET = 960 GeV and impacts at eta = 0.35, phi = 2.44. It has R(eta) = 0.971, R(phi) = 0.981, ET(iso) = -562 MeV. The main balancing jet has reconstructed pT = 918 GeV and impacts at eta = -0.48, phi = -0.45; the event has reconstructed ETmiss = 22.5 GeV. The event display shows tracks with pT > 2 GeV.
