WLCG Operations Call details

  • For remote participation we use the Vidyo system. Instructions can be found here.

General Information

  • The purpose of the meeting is:
    • to report significant operational issues (i.e. issues which can or did degrade experiment or site operations) which are ongoing or were resolved after the previous meeting;
    • to announce or schedule interventions at Tier-1 sites;
    • to inform about recent or upcoming changes in the experiment activities or systems having a visible impact on sites;
    • to provide important news about the middleware;
    • to communicate any other information considered interesting for WLCG operations.
  • The meeting should run from 15:00 Geneva time until 15:20, exceptionally to 15:30.
  • The SCOD rota for the next few weeks is at ScodRota
  • General information about the WLCG Service can be accessed from the Operations Portal
  • Whenever a particular topic needs to be discussed at the operations meeting requiring information from sites or experiments, it is highly recommended to announce it by email to wlcg-scod@cernSPAMNOTNOSPAMPLEASE.ch to allow the SCOD to make sure that the relevant parties have the time to collect the required information, or invite the right people at the meeting.

  • LHCb reports ( raw view) -
    • Activity:
      • Usual activity running at 110k jobs: MC, user jobs and re-stripping of 2018 data.
    • Issues:
      • NTR
    • Chair remark: Please contact Marian(Networking) for SAM test as discussed.

  • JINR: NC
  • KISTI: NTR
  • KIT:
    • Resolved issues for LHCb SAM tests reported two weeks ago (GGUS:141561) by installing tcsh on all WNs - arguably, this is a missing dependency for the HEP_OSlibs package.
      • added June 18: fixed in HEP_OSlibs-7.2.10-1.el7 available in the WLCG repo
    • We've discovered this week, that our ARC-CE do accept jobs that could run with multiple roles. We don't want people to exploit this problematic feature, so we will update our configuration such that jobs may run only with one specific role. Possibly other sites might want to rethink their position on the subject.
      • Chair remark: More details should be provided to ARC developers about this issue.
  • NDGF: NTR
  • NL-T1:
    • SARA-MATRIX downtime ongoing.
    • No-one available to dial in due to downtime and illnesses.
    • Nikhef: Over the past few weeks we have been upgrading our compute nodes from centos 6 to centos 7. This is now nearly compete. We had a lot of difficulty with the torque/maui batch system we use during the upgrade. Repeated crashes of the batch system caused a large number of jobs to be killed. We are now back to operating normally at about the same reliability level as before the upgrade.
  • NRC-KI: NC
  • OSG: NC
  • PIC: NC
  • RAL: NC
