Question 1

- In your view, what are the 3 main current issues in Storage Management (SM)?

My answer:

• Incompatibility between different SRM implementations and toolsets (bestman, dcache, etc)
• Lack (perceived?) of consistent error reporting
• It's another layer in the stack

Question 2

- What is the greatest future challenge which would greatly impact the SM sector?

My answer:

• Collaborating with and contributing to non HEP projects, especially in the opensource space rather than simply going down our own (HEP) path.
• Better monitoring of all components with a unified/consistent means to publish the monitoring data

Question 3

- What is your site/experiment/middleware currently working on in SM?

My answer:

• dcache, eos, lustre, pnfs, bestman, enstore, cernvmfs, phedex, fts

Question 4

- What are the big developments that you would like to see from your site/experiment/storage system in the next 5 years?

My answer:

• Easier deployment and management, reducing complexity. This is especially useful for facility admins.

Question 5

- In your experience and area of competence, what are the (up to) 3 main successes in SM so far?

My answer:

• SRM operations at FNAL have been quite stable.
• FNAL has been able to extend and scale our SRM with the increase in traffic.

My answer:
