2.6.2  Small, medium and large equations

FrameMaker equations may be assigned a size of small, medium or large, which only affects their appearance. This allows the differentiation between stand-alone equations, equations in-lined in the text, and equations in footnotes, as shown in Table 2-4 .

Table 2-4 Usage of small, medium or large FrameMaker equations.

Equation Size:

Shortcut to create

Use is reserved for:

Large

Esc m l

Equations that stand alone, whether numbered or not. For an example see equation 2-1 .

Medium

Esc m m

Equations inlined in the text, e.g. .

Small

Esc m s

Equations in footnotes, or otherwise small print. 1

Stand-alone equations, such as 2-1 , may be numbered by first creating a Body Equation paragraph and then inserting a new large equation using the FrameMaker editor or keyboard shortcuts. Similarly, the Body Equation No Number paragraph style is used for stand-alone equations that are not numbered, as in the case of the equation above 2-1 .

  2-1

Stand-alone equations are centred by inserting a tab character at the beginning of the line.
