1 TDR management

The primary task of the main editor is the smooth orchestration of the multi-author document editing. To help this cause, the FrameMaker template has been conceived to have a subdirectory per chapter. Write access for this subdirectory may then be also assigned to the respective individual chapter authors. The chapters may be edited in place or checked out by the chapter authors and worked on in their environment of choice. In both cases, the main editor must address the following issues:

Version control for the entire document.
Ownership of chapter (or section) files; avoidance of merging issues.
How "chapters", i.e. subdirectory structures, are checked out and checked back in.

Other tasks for the main editor include the management of the FrameMaker book file, explained below.
