DJRA1.3.4 - Security Area Work Plan and Status Report (PM36)

This deliverable contains the detailed work plan of the Security Services technical area compliant with the overall EMI Technical Development Plan. The plan is released early in the project life and updated every year including a status report on the achievements of the past 12 months compared to the planned objectives. The status report at M03 will cover the state-of-the art while the work plan at M36 will provide recommendations for further work. [month 36]

Much technical progress has been carried out in securing the EMI software stack and the associated work is reported here in great detail at the component level. Outstanding tasks for the final year of the project are identified and commented upon, in relation to the likelihood of the work being complete before the end of the project. It is very clear that there is more work to be done than can be expected from the small team working in this area. It is disappointing that a very conventional and conservative response was given to the previous review recommendation; however, such a reply was not a complete surprise. The open-mindedness of people working elsewhere in EMI and the high quality of their results deserve better support from those involved in the security tasks; however, it is also clear that the security task should have been given more resources when the project was planned and the DoW devised. The deliverable is very open and frank in its delivery and it is well written. It offers a very valuable insight into what has been done and what remains to be done, both in terms of meeting project objectives as well as in achieving higher degrees of security within grid infrastructures.
