JRA1.5 - Definition and Implementation of the Infrastructure Area Work Plan - Task Force Accounting

Mandate and expected results

  • Explore possibilities of how EMI components can take advantage of accounting technologies
  • Expected result is a 5 page document (including one rough architecture / infrastructure sketch)
  • Initial results (e.g. rough plan/ideas) are checked at the end of November (2010-11-30)

Guidelines / Hints

  • Explore existing accounting solutions in EMI components (e.g. APEL-publisher, DGAS HLR-sensors, JURA, etc.)
  • Take existing work of the EMI components into account and evaluate it
  • Evaluate how messaging can be used in the context of accounting
  • Collaborate with the compute area and data area that both work in the field of accounting as well (e.g. use of messaging, storage accounting, etc.)
  • Which EMI components will be really affected?

EMI Technical Objectives in Context (derived from deliverable DNA1.3.1 - version 0.14)

  • Compute 4 : Support for the agreed compute accounting record (UR) (M18)
  • Data 12 : Add support for storage space usage accounting on the SE/FTS side, including the refinement, definition and adoption (if/when applicable) of relevant standards. (M36)
  • Infra Area 1 : Provide early internal guidelines for integrating messaging into potential EMI target components (M10)
  • Infra Area 3 : Investigate possible use cases for a common standard messaging system in the accounting area (M12)
  • Infra Area 10 : Implement or adapt the accounting record publishers of compute and data area services to use the common messaging system. (M24)
  • Cross Area 1 : Define the Information Flow architecture describing messaging and non-messaging based information exchange of the EMI components (e.g. service registry, information system, accounting, monitoring, and instrumentation). A common information exchange between the EMI components is preferable. (M9)

Task Force Leader

  • John Gordon
    • (Responsible for accounting in EGI as well)
