Sender: Alberto Di Meglio Date: 03 May 2011 Subject: EMI 1 Release final steps:

As we get ready to release EMI 1, there are a number of final items we have to take care of before we can go public. It is important that everybody is aware of the status of things and take any required action. We are planning to release next week, the exact date to be decided depending on the results of the following actions:

1) The final configuration emi_R_1_0_0_1 must be created in ETICS. It can only contain tagged and locked configurations. Please make sure that the configurations you want to be in the final release are indeed tagged and locked. You have until tomorrow Wednesday 4 May at 17:30 to make any critical last minute change. More changes will be possible only after the release next week.

2) The final configuration will be built and checked. All RPMS will be signed offline and uploaded to the EMI 1 public repository

3) The EMI public web site and the EMI repository web interface will be updated

4) All products and services will be deployed in the EMI Integration Testbed. We plan to get to this stage by the end of this week

5) If you need to do any final test, please do it on the testbed after the services are deployed. From now on the testbed will be kept updated with all pre-release version of all components so that tests can be done always against the most recent versions of all packages. If you find critical "show-stopper" issues, please talk to Cristina Aiftimiei as soon as possible, so a solution can be found.

6) The release acceptance criteria will be verified. Products that do not meet the acceptance criteria can be excluded from the release (for example if binary RPMS are missing) or included in the release with a note for EGI and other users about which criteria are not met (for example missing source RPMS, missing or incomplete documentation, etc). A table of Products and Acceptance Criteria is being prepared and will be first published in the internal release wiki page and then added to the EMI 1 release notes and web page.

If you have any question or find any critical issue in your components, please inform Cristina Aiftimiei as soon as possible, so we can discuss of possible solutions.
