Venus-C - Virtual multidisciplinary EnviroNments USing Cloud infrastructures

Collaboration Objectives

  • To re-use or adapt Venus-C components in order to enhance EMI middleware with emerging computing, data, and security models
  • To utilize Venus-C IaaS and PaaS test beds for the development and component testing purposes
  • To make advancements in the mutual interest of both projects

Project Introduction

VENUS-C is aimed at developing and deploying a Cloud Computing service for research and industry communities in Europe by offering an industrial-quality service-oriented platform based on virtualisation technologies, with the aim of creating a platform that enables user applications to leverage cloud computing principles and benefits; leveraging the state of the art to bring on board early adopters quickly, incrementally enable interoperability with existing Distributed Computing Infrastructures (DCIs) and pushing the state of the art where needed to satisfy on-boarding and interoperability; as well as creating a sustainable infrastructure that enables cloud computing paradigms for the user communities inside the project and new communities recruited through an Open Call. Highlights

  • First telecon is planned in the first week of February. The main focus of this telecon is to formalize the roadmap towards regular technical collaborations and most importantly to analyze and agree upon the architectural and design aspects of both projects. From EMI perspective, the requirements and design elements significantly aligned with the technical objectives highlighted under the technical development plan - DNA1.3.1. See Venus-C architecture under the attachments below.
