Review of the NDGF Critical Probes used for Availability Metrics Calculations

NDGF Probes

Computing Element (ArcCE): - All these tests run under OPS VO credentials.
  • ARCCE-auth - ARC CE authentication test -
    • This test makes a secure connection to the ARC CE's contact point, but without submitting a job so that it doesn't have to wait for the job to finish before redoing the test. This test will fail if there is something wrong with the ARC CE certificates.
  • ARCCE-caver - ARC CE CA version -
    • This test whether the list of CAs published by the ARC CE is consistent with the current set of IGTF CAs.
  • ARCCE-csh - csh test -
    • This test runs a csh script.
  • ARCCE-gcc - gcc version -
    • This test determines the default gcc version on the cluster.
  • ARCCE-gridftp - ARC gridftp input/output file test -
    • This submits a testjob with a gridftp input file and a gridftp output file to the cluster.
  • ARCCE-job-submit - ARC job submission -
    • This submits a testjob to the cluster.
  • ARCCE-lfc - ARC LFC input/output file test -
    • This submits a testjob with a LFC input file and a LFC output file to the cluster.
  • ARCCE-perl - perl version -
    • This test determines the default perl version on the cluster.
  • ARCCE-python - python version -
    • This test determines the default python version on the cluster.
  • ARCCE-rls - ARC RLS input/output file test -
    • This submits a testjob with an RLS input file and an RLS output file to the cluster.
  • ARCCE-softver - ARC CE middleware version -
    • This tests determines the middleware version of the ARC CE.
  • ARCCE-srm - ARC SRM input/output file test -
    • This sensor tests stage-in from and stage-out to srm storage at the ARC CE. Similar to the ARCCE-gridftp and ARCCE-rls sensors.
  • ARCCE-status - ARC CE status -
    • This tests checks the status reported by the ARC CE and fails if it is not "active", or if the status can not be retrieved.
  • ARCCE-wn-gridftp - ARC gridftp input/output file test - WN part -
    • This is the part of the ARCCE-gridftp test that is run on the worker node.
  • ARCCE-wn-rls - ARC RLS input/output file test - WN part -
    • This is the part of the ARCCE-rls test that is run on the worker node.
  • ARCCE-wn-srm - ARC SRM input/output file test - WN part -
    • This is the part of the ARCCE-srm test that is run on the worker node.

SRM version 2 (SRMv2):

  • Running exactly the same tests with OPS VO credentials as for all the EGEE/WLCG sites. See above.

Site BDII (sBDII):

  • Running exactly the same tests with OPS VO credentials as for all the EGEE/WLCG sites. See above.

Equivalence between NDGF and EGEE/WLCG critical probes

Computing Element (CE):
  • CE-sft-brokerinfo may be equivalent to an ARCCE does not need access to this kind of information, so there is no reason to test for it.
  • CE-sft-caver may be equivalent to ARCCE-caver
  • CE-sft-csh may be equivalent to ARCCE-csh
  • CE-sft-job may be equivalent to ARCCE-job-submit
  • CE-sft-lcg-rm
    • Super-test that succeeds only if all of the following tests succeed:
      • CE-sft-lcg-rm-gfal may be equivalent to ==
      • CE-sft-lcg-rm-cr may be equivalent to ARCCE-gridftp and ARCCE-lfc
      • CE-sft-lcg-rm-cp may be equivalent to ARCCE-wn-gridftp and ARCCE-wn-rls
      • CE-sft-lcg-rm-rep may be equivalent to LCG specific. ARCCEs are not responsible for replicating files
      • CE-sft-lcg-rm-del may be equivalent to ARCCE-gridftp and ARCCE-lfc
  • CE-sft-softver may be equivalent to ARCCE-softver
  • CE-host-cert-valid may be equivalent to ARCCE-auth

SRM version 2 (SRMv2):

  • Because for SRM we run exactly the same tests as for EGEE/WLCG sites, the equivalence is perfect.

Site BDII (sBDII):

  • Because for sBDII we run exactly the same tests as for EGEE/WLCG sites, the equivalence is perfect.
