&MAGNETIC

COMPONENTS

Sets the components of the magnetic field.

The radial and angular components of the magnetic field must be zero if your cell has been entered in polar coordinates. Only the z component may be non-zero in this case.

Format:

COMPONENTS {value_Bx | vector_Bx VS {X|Y|Z} = vector_x | formula_Bx} ...
            {value_By | vector_By VS {X|Y|Z} = vector_y | formula_By} ...
            {value_Bz | vector_Bz VS {X|Y|Z} = vector_z | formula_Bz} ...
            [GAUSS | OERSTED | TESLA | V.MICROSEC/CM2]

Examples:

comp 0 0 5000 G

A constant magnetic field of 5000\ G, or 0.5\ T, along the z-axis.

comp -y x 0

A toroidal field specified with 2\ formulae and 1\ constant value.

Additional information on:

OPTIONS

There are no local options in this section, but the options of the top-level OPTIONS command are accessible.

PERMEABILITY

Sets the permeability of the gas and the wires. The unit system is irrelevant: only the ratio matters. The default settings are 1 for the wires and 0 for the gas. The magnetic field has no effect if the two permeabilities are equal.

The permeability is taken into account only in case all 3 COMPONENTS of the magnetic field have been entered as a constant value.

Format:

PERMEABILITY perm_wire perm_gas

Example:

PERM 1 0
