Proton Synchrotron Straight section pictures

SS00 PR.SS00 layout database

To the left, between the pole pieces of the bending magnet, a pick-up of the orbit measurement system (CODD). The device on the left side of the blue table is a position sensitive wall current monitor (PSWCM). The rectangular object is a quadrupole magnet. At the right a vacuum sector valve.

SS01 PR.SS01 Layout database

At the left, on the blue table, two sextupole magnets. Quadrupole magnets PR.QCOMP01 and PR.QCOMP67, in Straight Sections 01 and 67, used to test resonance compensation at 50Hz, have been removed as described in PS-MQN-EC-0001 ECR 1312445

SS02 PR.SS02 layout database

Corrector magnet PR.DVT02 removed from Straight Section 02, to make space for a new Finemet Cavity. See PS-MCVAA-EC-0001.It is replaced by a combined function vertical corrector 403 skew quadrupole installed in the MU02 See ECR: 1233139. Longitudinal Damper Cavity in SS02 of the PS Ring ECR 1308628 PS-ACWFA-EC-0001 has been installed

The second PU for the transverse feedback system is also installed in this section, but it can't be seen from this side. See also the cabling diagram for this PU. Longitudinal Damper Cavity in SS02 of the PS Ring ECR 1308628 PS-ACWFA-EC-0001 has been installed

SS03 PR.SS03 layout database

On the blue table, two wall current monitors (WCMs) installed in December 2015.

SS04 PR.SS04 layout database

Kicker KFA04, part of the new multi-turn extraction (MTE) system.

SS05 PR.SS05 layout database

At the left, between the pole pieces of the bending magnet, a pick-up of the orbit measurement system (CODD).
On the blue table, on the left, a quadrupole magnet. Part of the vacuum chamber is covered in brown kapton foil.
Horizontal dipole magnet PR.DHZOC05 added in Straight Section 05. See ECR: 1257988

SS06 PR.SS06 layout database

Six 200MHz radio frequency cavities. These cavities convert the bunch spacing of proton beams to 5ns, just prior to ejection toward the SPS.

SS07 PR.SS07 layout database

At the left, between the pole pieces of the bending magnet, one of the pick-ups of the orbit measurement system (CODD). On the table, a sextupole and a quadrupole magnet.

SS08 PR.SS08 layout database

Radio frequency cavity 'Anne'. This 80.11MHz cavity serves not to accelerate, but to shorten the circulating bunches to about 4ns prior to ejection towards the SPS.

SS09 PR.SS09 layout database

Kicker magnet BFA9, part of the five-turn beam ejection system.
The red sphere is a turbomolecular vacuum pump. At the left, standing on the floor, a roughing pump.
