Proton Synchrotron Straight section pictures

SS70 PR.SS70 Layout database

On the blue table, Octupole magnet PR.ODN70.A added in Straight Section 70, as described in PS-MONAA-EC-0001. Existing Octupole in the Straight Section renamed PR.ODN70.B At the right, a pneumatic vacuum sector valve.

SS71 PR.SS71 Layout database

Ejection kicker magnet KFA71. Together with the kicker in SS79, this device kicks the beam in preparation for its ejection in SS16. The four rectangular boxes are ion pumps. In the left foreground, a vacuum pumping station.

SS72 PR.SS72 Layout database

New Tune Stripline Beam Position Monitor PR.BPMT72.A installed in Straight Section 72, as described in ECR: 1234117 The floor still carries the marks of the kicker magnet that used to be installed here.

SS73 PR.SS73 Layout database

At the left, between the pole pieces of the bending magnet, one of the pick-ups of the orbit measurement system (CODD). On the blue table one quadrupole magnet of the transition triplet (orange) and the kick enhancement quadrupole magnet QKE73CT.

SS74 PR.SS74 Layout database

An empty straight section. In the foreground, at the left, a vacuum pump. The red sphere is a turbo pump, and on the floor stands a roughing pump.

SS75 PR.SS75 Layout database

The rectangular steel box at the left is a wire scanner, measuring the vertical profile of the beam.

SS76 PR.SS76 Layout database

An accelerating radio frequency cavity, part of the 10MHz system. The red top contains the tunable ferrite-loaded cavity, and the blue bottom holds the power amplifier.

SS77 PR.SS77 Layout database

Radio frequency cavity 'Tjitske'. This 40.055MHz cavity is used to split particle bunches into equal parts prior to ejection towards the SPS.

SS78 PR.SS78 Layout database

Radio frequency cavity 'Susan'. This 40.055MHz cavity splits the particle bunches into equal parts, prior to ejection towards the SPS. The rectangular jacketed boxes sticking out at various places are vacuum ion pumps.

SS79 PR.SS79 Layout database

Kicker magnet KFA79. Together with the kicker in SS71, this device kicks the beam in preparation for its ejection in SS16.
Standing on the floor at the left, a vacuum pumping station.
